Prosecutor Mike Nifong has been disbarred by a state disciplinary committee for the horrendous way he conducted the prosecution on rape charges of three innocent Duke lacrosse players. "This matter has been a fiasco. There's no doubt about it," said committee chairman F. Lane Williamson.
Nifong has given up his right to appeal, meaning this verdict is final. However, Nifong could still face criminal charges.
The photo, taken April 11, 2006, shows a sign posted in Durham, North Carolina, reading, "Nifong Admit how wrong you were! How stupid -- stop while you can save face and apologize. Lacrosse deserves it!"

Mr. Nifong's attorney, when asked about going forward with the prosecution and even bringing a third indictment AFTER learning the DNA test results proving the suspects inocence replied " that's just the way his mind works". That would be similar to the Paris Hilton saying she didn't realize that having her drivers license suspended actually meant that she couldn't drive! The SAD thing is that Mr. Nifong spent seven or more years in college and law school, passed the bar exam, was elected to the office of county prosecuter, took an oath to uphold the laws on his county, state, and country and his excuse is that is how my mind works?!!! If he is prosecuted for malicious use of his prosecutorial powers and is convicted. We can all hope that he gets ths maximum penalty allowed because THAT is how the Judges mind works. BP

Justice is not served until Nifong goes to jail.
A US prosecutor has a lot of power to formally accuse people of crimes. A prosecutor who hides evidence in order to gain indictment against innocent people is the ultimate corruption of his office.
Nifong should be made an example to all prosecutors in this country to serve honestly and responsibly.

anyone who stood by and watched this ...and does not condemn it needs help....lives were torn apart...
and the players and duke university have been done a severe injustice.....prison terms should be in line

I'm glad to hear that Mr. Nifong is paying for his misconduct. He was overzealous in his quest for justice and his actions only served to divide the county and country on this matter along race lines. One side was quick to believe the young men did this terrible crime and the other was quick to believe the young lady was lying just because of her profession. In the long run I hope this teaches other young student athletes not to get themselves in this situation. Honestly, these students were guilty of bad judgment yet no one...not the media, not the parents, nor the students themselves have taken the initiative to tell other young christian athletes not to have alcohol or exotic dancers at their parties. Live and learn.
