Mike Nifong, the disgraced prosecutor who spent the final year of his legal career attempting to imprison three innocent Duke lacrosse players, has finally, officially, given up his law license. But The Smoking Gun has a copy of the letter Nifong sent to the North Carolina State Bar when he mailed back his license, and he goes out with a parting shot. Nifong finished his letter by saying that a request from F. Lane Williamson, the chair of the disciplinary panel that disbarred Nifong, was evidence of "the fundamental unfairness with which this entire procedure has been conducted."
So, to recap: Mike Nifong used his job as a prosecutor to spend a year trying to ruin the lives of three innocent people. And in the end, he's upset that he was treated unfairly. I wonder if those three innocent men feel any sympathy for him. I don't.

He is going to get turned out so fast in prison, he should grow breasts like Richard Speck did so he'll be more popular.

Mike Nifong has every right to be infuriated with the proceedings. He has lost his career, law license, credibility, etc.. He was the subject of an unfair witch hunt by the NC State Bar. They should be going after the accuser, not Mike Nifong. She was the one who caused this whole thing and Mike Nifong was merely trying to do his duty as a public servant.

I always find this funny when one tries to put all of the blame on the accuser and not Mike Nifong. Sure she deserves some of the blame but as a DA you will always have someone presenting you lies. As a professional a DAs job is to investigate both sides of the story and using the evidence objectively decide who is telling you the truth.
As almost everyone knows, Nifong wanted the accusers' story to be true. He ignored any evidence that would show that the crime didn't occur and that the accuser was a liar. The accused offered to take a lie detector test (at least one of the accused passed a highly respected private lie detector test). Despite all of this, Nifong acted unprofessionally to say the least to railroad the accused.
In addition to this, Nifong made numerous inflammatory comments to the press that were against DA guidelines.
The accuser was mentally ill. Nifong was warned of her questionable character and truthfulness. For him to believe her rather than investigate shows how detestable what he did.
The word "rogue" that the state DA used to describe Nifong has various meanings including "an unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person." That says it all about Nifong. I wouldn't feel sorry for him. He dug his own grave.
