ESPN First Take host Dana Jacobson, who was suspended for a week for a profane rant at an ESPN-sponsored celebrity roast, returned to the air today and apologized for her actions. "I want to once again say how truly sorry I am for my poor choices and bad judgment," Jacobson said. "I've taken responsibility for what I did say and do, and realize it was wrong. ... I have already learned a lot."
Although Jacobson didn't get into the details of what she said at the roast, the way she emphasized the words "what I did say" seemed to be a subtle suggestion that some of the reports that have come out in the past two weeks overstated exactly what Jacobson said. Specifically, the Catholic League has said Jacobson's rant was anti-Catholic, but the indications from people who attended the roast are that the rant was merely anti-Notre Dame.
Jacobson, who is at ESPN's First Take studio in Bristol and not at its Super Bowl headquarters in Scottsdale, Ariz., concluded her statement by thanking, "most importantly, ESPN, for its unwavering support."

What a bunch of crap. Rush Limbaugh says something that turns out to be true in the end, he gets canned from ESPN's lackluster NFL pregame show. This woman goes off on a very offensive rant, and only has to apologize to make everything OK. Tells me a lot about what ESPN'S political agenda is.

It is time for ESPN to do the right thing and fire her!

It's amazing how uninformed folks are Re: the purpose of Roasts. They began as Jewish comic being aloud to say anything funny, ugly about the Roastee, the worse or more demeaning was the goal, like Rap star putting their pals, or even "your mama jokes" but today friends & groups can not do that, because of ignorance! What Jacobson did is Mel Gibson in reverse. In her drunken state we found out her true thoughts about Christians. Why is there no national uproar?! Also, to add insult to injury ESPN made me watch a Bud Lite commercial before I could view her "apology." I will no longer be drinking that brand of beer, and I can live without ESPN too.

Dana Jacobson's drunkenness is no excuse for what she said. I intend to boycott the sponsors of her program. What if she had cursed Muslims, blacks, Jews, or gays. She would have been fired. She is pathetic.

All I can tell you is we were there ,and if anything M@M were embarassed as much as anyone.Several of the players spent more time rambling about themselves more than the roastees, Reed seemed nearly incoherent about anything he spoke, Ditka spoke and said he had a long drive and LEFT.Comedian/actor Eddie Griffin salvaged the show towards the end as best he could without much of a professional bevy of helpers. As much as I have enjoyed Dana’s input into Cold Pizza, then First Take, I now truly admire the fortitude of Charlie W.for not storming out off that stage.I also was not suprised that it was a non-story the following Monday on M@M, as I don’t really think they knew what to say themselves. One couple at our table had traveled from Ohio as a gift to the husband, imagine how they felt.It was one of the most sad excuses for a roast I have attended, and I have called some pro players friends since grade, high school, college, and beyond. One thing I have noticed is the stern, almost stoic face of Dana now that she is back, can she see Sage peering over her shoulder?
