The photo basically tells the whole story: Australian cricket player Andrew Symonds knocks a streaker down during a match in Brisbane. For more details we'll turn to the Australian newspaper The Age.
Training with NRL club the Brisbane Broncos paid off for Symonds tonight when he pulled off a monster shoulder charge to end an unsuspecting streaker's run in the second tri-series final against India at the Gabba....
a grinning, naked man unwittingly let Symonds blow off some steam.
During the 10th over, play was held up as the male streaker showed security a clean pair of heels - and a whole lot more.
But as the smug pitch invader rounded Symonds to complete his naked lap, the burly Queenslander put on a hit that left the intruder air-borne - and the crowd gasping....
The spectator is expected to be fined $3,000 for invading the pitch - but faces a possible jail term for wilful exposure.
Fark calls the picture, taken by Greg Wood of Agence France-Presse and available to FanHouse via Getty Images, the international sports photo of the year. It's hard to disagree.

Why can't American streakers be that in-shape?

It just goes to show, you can not take the rugby player(NRL=National Rugby League) out of a guy even if he "refines" himself to the level of cricket!

Wow! That's nuts. I guess the guy deserved it! Cricket looks like a great sport. Prefer fishing to any other sport. It relaxes you and lowers your stress level. If you are a fisherman, watch this video! These are the world's smallest fishing rods and reels! They fit in your pocket, can be taken anywhere & can handle a pretty big fish for an 8" fishing rod.

You can bet that here in America, if a streaker ran out in front of a pro baseball player that was up at bat, and he clobbered him wilfully, the player would also go to jail!

I remember seeing Curtis of the Baltimore Colts laying out a fan that had the idea of running on the field and picking up the ball.
He couldn't even pick himself up after a sholder block.

Not good! - that POMPOUS, SELF-RIGHTOUS Player needs to LIGHTEN UP - the man was merely pulling a prank and having fun! Who put this Player in charge of the entire place? The player is NOT the Police, has no Police Powers, has NO right to assault the streaker - the penalty for streaking is NOT physical violence, it is the Fine and possible Jail Time that the streaker ALREADY faces. SO, to be fair the authorities need to charge Number 63 with Assault. What an idiot this player is. He cannot claim self-defense, because he HAD TO RUN TO CATCH the streaker! He has no excuse, no defense. Australia is pretty progressive - let's see if they do the right thing and arrest the player (who ALSO had a bad-ass weapon in his hands).
What would he have done if the streaker was a Protester? Would he have assaulted Ghandi for some of his protests? Impossible to tell the difference between different types of trespassing at the time it is happening. The LAW must be followed - if not, the WHO decides what punishment? Do you want THIS PLAYER to decide WHETHER TO PUNISH YOU with physical violence? Do you want THIS PLAYER to have the right to assault you?

If God had meant us to be seen naked in public, we'd have been born that way!

Gah...the way it looks in the picture and sounds in the article, the player clobbered the poor weenie-waggler with his big stick. As long as it's only body-to-body contact, I guess it's ok...

streaking around naked is NOT a reason to use violence on someone....that cricket player looks more of an arse than the streaker to me.
if that were a baseball player, they'd have their arses sued off...justifiably so.

Conrad Jos should start to think of the rights of the 40,000 people who went to see an International Cricket final, not some drip who should be on a live nude stage show. Conrad Jos should also learn to spell Gandhi. As for the rhetorical nonsense at the end of his comment, if you answer 'no' as the questions suggest, stay off the bloody cricket ground.

not a good idea to hit someone w/a stick
he should face charges if he hurt the guy
where did he hit him?
w/a stick?
be a man.
he has a few advantages.
1. the guy is naked
2. never expected it
3. was unarmed.
the other guy. the player. is a punk.

That cricket player ought to be charged with assault and battery. As annoying as streakers are there is no need for violence against them. If that were some whore (female) that ran out there I bet she wouldn't have been smacked.

The freak got what he deserved! Nobody paid good money to see that crap. What if you took your 8 year-old daughter to that game? Is that what you want her to see? I'm glad it happened, maybe the other freaks in thisworld will think twice before they pull a stunt like that.
