"I hated him racing. When he crashed in 2001, I never wanted him to race again.

"But he said to me, 'Mum, you might as well cut off my arms and legs if you say I can't race'.

"It was what he loved. He died doing what he loved best. We do take comfort from that.

"He told me, 'If I die racing, I will die happy.'

Jones was 23.

All my respects to his family

I have so much respect for racers in general. These people are some of the most intense people in the world.

They fight for a split second advantage at such high speeds. The mental toughness needed is huge.

For so long the advantages of neck and back protection/stiffening supports to prevent these needless deaths has been ignored. The tech has been evolved and adapted in all other motorsports. When will bike racers, sponsors and tracks demand the most simple of life saving techniques and devices so we fans won't be deprived of great atheletes such as Craig???

Craig is going to be greatly missed. He was a fantastic athlete and would have become very well known in the future. I offer my sympathies to his family and friends.

The sport of motorcycling has to develop safer protection for the heads and bodies of these riders. It's time for the sport to change by introducing mandatory vests, better helmets, and whatever the industry decides to approve.

What a sad day......also sad that YouTube has that on their sight for others to see! That should be private at the track and with the family. God bless his family and friends during this difficult time!
Racing is fun but it also a danger but those that love it can understand how these things happen and they continue to go on with knowing! We all make choices and I hope that YouTube makes the right choice!!!!!!

This is why motorcycles should be outlawed. You crash, you ARE the accident. It's ridiculous that I am forced by law to wear a seatbelt for my "safety" (we all know it's just revenue generation), yet motorcycles are allowed to ride on the street with other vehicles. I understand this was a race and not regular traffic, but I think the point gets across. I'm sorry this young man had to die doing something that shouldn't even be legal.

Can you say "knee-jerk reaction"? Of course we should outlaw motorcycles. While we're at it, lets outlaw baseball bats. Or maybe glaciers. Oh wait, I know: lets outlaw people who make inflammatory statements with absolutely no concept of what they're talking about. Its too bad that this young man was killed. I believe he was aware of the risks involved when he decided to race for a living. I was watching a program about shark attacks which included the following observation: "You are more likely to be killed by a coconut falling on your head than a shark attack". Or, I'd venture, motorcycle racing.

Well, gee, Mick, people like riding bicycles, but they are killed by cars and other accidents.Maybe we ought to outlaw them.(Poor Asian countries, huh).And how about taking a nightly stroll around the block which involves crossing the street. People get killed.Oh, but maybe we ought to outlaw walks down the street,too. Maybe we ought to employ the KGB to watch our every move and imprison us when we, say... plug in an electrical appliance.We could get shocked and die.... You dip $hit!!
