Elie Seckbach, the Embedded Correspondent, brings his exclusive video reporting to FanHouse. Check back regularly for more videos.
In this exclusive video we talk to the San Antonio Silver Stars' Becky Hammon. The American WNBA star reflects on her decision to play for Russia during the Olympics, a move some people called unpatriotic. We also talk to her teammates and hear what they have to say about Hammon's decision. You also might be surprised to hear just what San Antonio's Sandora Irvin thinks about Hammon's future.

I think when you love the game of basketball the way Becky does and the opportunity to play in the olympics and experience something that may only come once in a life time, that alone should be a good reason to play. I believe Becky plays in Russia in the WNBA,s off season and i'm sure has alot of fans around the world. I've had the pleasure of meeting her and to say she's unpatriotic is just plain stupid.

I have to defend Becky Hammon. All she wanted to do is play in the Olympics. She is already 31 years old and 2008 might have been her only chance to compete for the gold(after all she will be 35 in 2012 and you never know what kind of injuries may occur between now and then). For starters there was no reason why on earth she wasn't selected or even considered for the US team. She was runner up to be MVP of the WNBA in 2007 and since the MVP plays for Australia, that should have meant that Becky should have been first in line to make the US team. Don't get me wrong all the players on the US team are great however maybe instead of having only past olympians and rookies on the US team, it would have been nice to see other top players have their chance to be in the Olympics. What irked me most was the way the US players treated Becky during the Olympics. Seeing players like Lisa Leslie and Katie Smith snub Becky after the Russia vs US game was just plain rude.
Just so you know Becky wasn't the only American athlete playing for another country. I believe there was an athlete from the NBA doing the same thing. In addition if Becky declined Russia's invitation to play for them there were a few other WNBA players in line for that same position (I thnk Kelly Miller was of them). Why is this hardly mentioned? I believe there was also a 31 year old gymnist from another European country competing for Germany. If the country wasn't Russia, would there even have been a debate?
Becky is a great player. She wanted to play for the US. She just wasn't given the chance she rightfully earned.
