Like most sports freaks, I watch a lot of sports, and at times get spoiled with great plays. "Oh, one-handed grab, that was pretty nice." "Wow, did he just catch that off a tipped ball by the ref, nice job (golf clap)." It takes an absolutely incredible play that makes you want to slap someone you don't really know, and then hug that person in the same moment. Philip Lutzenkirchen understands.
The Lassiter Trojans receiver made a play in his high school game that almost makes you think, "Why has nobody ever done this before?" Catching a ball in the air out of bounds in the back of the end zone, Lutzenkirchen decided to do what most should, toss the ball back to a teammate. Luckily for him, that teammate was not a short guy named Shane Bacon on the Marshall Mavericks, because the ball would have hit my hands and probably dropped to the ground as I ran back to my mother's basement.
Why God, Why did you give me such bad hands?!?!
Enjoy the catch, after the jump, and pass it along to some of your buddies. It is the sort of play that makes you wish all of live was brought to you in high definition.

if you think thats impressive. youtube ultimate frisbee greatest. this kind of play happens most every weekend in elite level club and college ultimate.
Ditto Jake, some amazing captures, but not just in videos of filmed ultimate games...
Also happens in Ultimate pick up and local games somewhat frequently, having personally witnessed a few dozen over the years in the Silicon Valley, Hawaiian, and west coast ultimate scenes.
See upa.org for local listings, schools with programs and more info about this great 40 year old and still growing spirit of adventure sport for the non-soccer parent, football, and children types.

Great football play, great catch, excellent football awareness. Great hustle by the second player as well.

This doesn't happen in football very often because it's a bad idea. There are 4 defenders and 1 offensive player in the area. If he had mis-thrown the ball or the new reciever bobbled the unexpected ball and a defender caught it he would have earned himself some quality time on the bench and at least a 20 minute session of getting chewed out by the coach.
