Michael Phelps Takes Cocktail Waitress Home to Meet Family for Thanksgiving

At this point in his life, Olympic superstar Michael Phelps has been romantically linked with everyone from Amanda Beard to Lindsay Lohan to Stephanie Rice, which is understandable given the whole "eight gold medals in Beijing" thing.

Well, big names be damned, it appears that the current lady of Phelps' dreams is none other than a cocktail waitress from Las Vegas named Caroline "Caz" Pal.

The 26-year-old Pal works at Moon in the Palms and reportedly went home to Baltimore with Phelps for Thanksgiving to meet Phelps' family.

"She's there [in Maryland] meeting his family for the first time," a source close to Pal tells PEOPLE.

You can check out pictures of Pal here via Sports by Brooks. This might not exactly edge "Barack wins the Presidency" and "DOW drops below 8,000" as the story of the year for 2008, but anything involving Phelps these days still seems to qualify as news.

Phelps was said to have run into his lady friend while polishing up his poker skills (making him exactly the four-billionth male in America to take up poker).

He recently made it to the final table of the Caesars Palace Poker Classic.

"It was fun!" he told PEOPLE after the tournament. "It's just like a game that I could become better at and use some of my competitiveness at the poker table."

I'm really rooting for the guy to win a poker tournament or two. I hear he could use the extra cash.

I am truly not understanding any of the "hype" over this guy. So what - he is a great athlete. This does not make him a stud by any means. I am sorry to say, if he were just a normal every day guy, he would be looked at as a not so good looking nerdy doofy type in my opinion. His ego is as big as the universe and personally I don't get what the infatuation is with the public and this guy. I wouldn't go near him with 2 laps between us.

No other sport in the Olympics gives someone an opportunity to win 8 golds. Mark Spitz only had 7 chances, because one event did not exist then. Swimming is the type of sport that if you're good at it, you can win a lot of events. Imagine if a track sprinter could run the 20, 50, 100, 150, 200, 300, 400 and with different styles...for example, the backward 50 and 100. He too, could win 8 golds.

As for Phelps, he's a freak of nature with his body shape. Look at his torso and wingspan. Yes, he wasn't lazy..he worked hard at taking advantage of his gift. But he definitely has an unfair advantage over normal shaped hard working swimmers.
