In the wake of President Barack Obama's gaffe on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, where he compared his bowling skills to that of a Special Olympian, the real Special Olympics bowling champion has laid down a challenge. Kolan McConiughey, who has rolled a perfect game three times in his life, averages 266 pins per game. Needless to say, he's got the pedigree to take down any layperson when it comes to bowling. We've all seen the footage of our President attempting to bowl, so this would probably be a beatdown of UConn vs. Chattanooga proportions.
Kolan said, "He's cool, but he can't beat me."Well, yeah, Kolan. We can see that, but why waste your time? Wouldn't you like someone to at least give you a slight challenge? Hillary Clinton might not look afool when she bowls. Maybe Vice President Joe Biden could come within half of your score? Set your sights higher.
All joking aside, inviting McConiughey to the White House and staging a friendly bowl-off is the least Obama could do to help make nice with the mentally and physically challenged of our country. It would also be good politics, which we know he likes, seeing as how he allegedly makes NCAA Tournament picks based upon swing States. Not only that, it would be really hilarious to watch him get pummeled into submission at his home alley.

WAKE UP FOLKS, OBAMA'S OFF-HAND REMARKS RE: BOWLING VS. SPECIAL OLYMPICS WAS MERELY A VERBAL GESTURE OF HIS OWN SHORTCOMINGS, KNOWING & PROVING DAILY THAT HE IS NOT MENTALLY NOR PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED........NOTHING MORE !!!STOP LOOKING AND SEARCHING FOR THINGS TO "GIG" HIM ON. LOOK AT WHAT, WHEN, WHERE AND HOW HE HANDLES OUR COUNTRY AND THE PRIORITIES.

Priorities? You mean like filling out a bracket, bowling and playing basketball? Seems to me those are his priorities lately. And a terrible attempt at humor on Leno. What don't you understand about this? Any other Pres. would get berated for the comments Obama made. He didn't misspeak or slip-up. He flat out demeaned the Special Olympics. You're acting like every media outlet in America is flipping out at his foolish remarks. They're not. That's the problem. Verbal gesture of his own shortcomings? Yes and a direct insult to the special olympics. You conveniently left that part out. I guess it wasn't a "priority" for you.

I agree with Jay. Bush would have been burned in effigy by now for similar comments.

Aside from it being a non-issue,there isn't a person in the world that averages 266 per game, and there never will be,hogwash reporting as usual.

What's the "Big Deal?" He was just comparing himself when it come to bowling, with one that has limits. Who is an expert in everything. We all know what difficulty is, because, when attempting the unknown we have difficulty. Many time, even laughing about our own limit. Yes, the Special Olympics allows person with disabilities to shine, but it does not take away from the fact that they are human beings attempting a difficult task. I don't get. Laugh about that!

Bush wouldn't have been blasted for his comments because about 72% of the country thought he belonged in the Special Olympics.
Look, no one can be politically correct 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in everything they say. If Obama made a habit, as our last President did, of insensitive or ignorant remarks, then yes, it would be perfectly fair to chastise him. Also, he's a public figure in the most scrutinized position in our country. Is there anything he COULD have compared himself to self-deprecatingly that would NOT have been seen as insensitive? If he said "I bowl like a one-armed blind man" would he have been lashed out at for insensitivity towards one-armed blind people? Probably, yes!
Barack Obama's a human being like everybody else. When direct action taken by him or his administration harms this country, I'll be the first to call him out on it. Until then, I'm not going to forget that he's just a man, like everybody else, and therefore far from perfect, or deserving of being held to that standard.

LBSJ: You're saying Bush wouldn't have been blasted because he belongs in the Special Olympics?? Did you think this through? That's EXACTLY why he WOULD be blasted - because a majority of the country was on the Bush-hate bandwagon. You're logic makes no sense here.
"Look, no one can be politically correct 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in everything they say."
Again, did you think before typing this? You don't think the PRESIDENT OF THE US should be expected to be politically correct? That's precisely their job!
I don't even know why Bush is being brought into this. Let's look at stupid comments on a case by case basis. To say that Obama is excused because Bush - a guy who ISNT PRES ANYMORE - made some foolish remarks, is ridiculous. How does that justify the Special Olympics being the butt of Obama's pathetic attempt at humor?
"Also, he's a public figure in the most scrutinized position in our country."
And Bush wasn't?? I guess if you're going to call out our FORMER pres instead of the guy who made the comments, then Ill play along with your Obama vs Bush game.
"If he said "I bowl like a one-armed blind man" would he have been lashed out at for insensitivity towards one-armed blind people? Probably, yes!"
What does this have to do with anything? Seriously, grow up.
"When direct action taken by him or his administration harms this country, I'll be the first to call him out on it."
Will you be able to do that and drink the Obama kool-aid at the same time?

Oh please! I saw the tape of President Obama and though I am not overly fond of the guy, I thought he was hilarious! I am disabled and I have competed in Special Olympics (not well, but I tried) I am not offended one bit. PC has trashed this country. No matter WHAT most people say, someone is offended. I'd just as soon have them drop the PC idiocy altogether. It's been nothing but trouble. I watched the tape several times because I thought the President was too funny. It was nice to see him relaxed and having fun. He's only human and can not be running the country 24/7. Even the President should have an hour off on occasion. Give the guy a break!

What nobody has brought up, at least that I can see, on any forum, and what I don't understand is: why didn't NBC just edit out Obama's "special olympic" comment before the show aired? The interviews are taped in late afternoon and not shown until late night, so there was plenty of time to edit the tape and avoid the whole controversy. I am not a fan of Obama and didn't vote for him, but I think the whole thing was overblown. He didn't really disparage Special Olympics or the Special Olympians, he was just making a lame attempt at a joke. Political correctness is this country is really getting to be a pain in the back side...
