Brian Blair, a retired professional wrestler best known as a member of the Killer Bees tag team during the World Wrestling Federation's 1980s heyday, was arrested on Father's Day and charged with punching his sons.
The report cites sheriff's deputies as saying that Blair pushed, grabbed and punched his 17-year-old son, then grabbed his younger son (who is listed in some places as 12 years old and other places as 13) around the throat and punched him in the head.
Blair got his start in pro wrestling in small-time promotions in Florida, then hit the big-time as one half of the Killer Bees in the WWF. Along with tag-team partner Jumpin' Jim Brunzell, Blair's Killer Bees feuded with the likes of the Hart Foundation and the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff.
Blair, a conservative Republican who stresses the importance of family values, won a seat on the Hillsborough Conty Commission in 2004 but was defeated in his re-election bid in 2008. His attorney told the Tampa Tribune that despite the unpleasant Father's Day, Blair's wife and sons are "doing great."
WHAT IS BACK PORCH? The easy answer: Back Porch exists because FanHouse doesn't have a basement for its bloggers. The bigger picture? BP covers sports news that's funny, off-beat and controversial. In short, it's the other side of sports, covered with an edge. Enjoy.
