The grand opening of the shiny, new Cowboys Stadium didn't go off without a few hitches. The team lost, for starters. And some Giants players took issue with the lack of amenities in the visiting locker room. The New York Times' architectural critic wasn't impressed, either. But more than that, 30,000 fans holding Party Passes probably felt like they were in a refuge camp instead of the $1.3 billion Jerry Dome.
This story has a happy ending, however. According to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth's Blue Star blog, Michael, one of the unlucky Party Pass holders, wrote the Cowboys to complain. And he got a very thoughtful response. For the most part, anyway.
Hi Michael,As Drew writes, "If only the letter had ended there, I think we could all agree that this little Party Pass fiasco was ready to be a memory."
I sincerely apologize for the problematic experience you and your family endured on Sunday. In order to help make the situation right, we can offer you a refund or comp party passes to another game this season.
If you would like a refund, Ticketmaster will issue the refund for your party pass purchase. Please contact them at 1-800-653-8000. We have communicated with Ticketmaster, and they are aware of the refund process for this event.
Nope. That would have made too much sense. Onward and downward:
If it helps at all, the only reason so many party passes were sold for Sunday's game was to break the attendance record. I can assure you that only 1/3 of that amount of party passes will be sold for each game going forward...10,000 max instead of 30,000. That was a one-time deal for the grand opening of the stadium.Lord.
Sincerely, Dallas Cowboys Football Club
By the way, this was the first game in the new stadium. So by virtue of that fact, if only 25 people had shown up, it would have set the attendance record, correct? Just checking. Upside: Michael got his money back and the Cowboys released Jerry Jones.

Was it not the all time NFL attendance record which is not as bad.
johnbranderson,
Good point. And that certainly sounds like Jerry. But I also think that might be giving him too much credit.
(Note, Brenda, that I didn't make mention of Wade Phillips)
If you want to be a "columnist", learn how to spell, a-hole...
Thats jerry for ya! He has gone after every record out there except well the "winning games" record! lol! Remember when they threw the game so emmitt could take over the rushing title??? pathetic!
A side note to that game! Darren Woodson also set a record! Cant remember if it was a team or league record though! A reporter caught up with him and asked him how it felt to set the record and he replied (paraphrasing) "there's nothing to talk about... we lost the game"! Then he just walked away! Definitely a "no I in team player"!!! Jerry certainly could have learned from that but obviously hasnt! Woodson certainly gained a few fans that day!
