Arrington Tweets Anti-Danny Manifesto to Redskins Fans

The Redskins selected LaVar Arrington with the second-overall pick of the 2000 draft and that was probably the highlight of his Washington career. Injuries and Dan Snyder expedited LaVar's departure out of town, and in 2007, a serious motorcycle accident led to his retirement from tackle football.

But Arrington still has strong feelings about the Skins, probably because he spent six of his seven NFL seasons there, but also because he didn't leave the team on the best terms.

And now the guy who once called Redskins patron saint Joe Gibbs a coward has penned a letter to fans imploring them to look deep within themselves. That Arrington chose Twitter as his platform is peculiar, but thankfully the Sports Bog's Dan Steinberg went through the painstaking process of piecing together what he calls LaVar's "Skins-related epiphany."

Knock yourself out if you like, but here's the gist of Arrington's manifesto:
It's been the same story since 2000. It's mystifying to me that ever since this man has bought this team, that we can't win.

"He'd rather have movie stars on the field distracting a coach who is in a no-win situation rather then making it an environment where guys who have done so much for this team don't even want to be a part of this. Why do we not see B-Mitch, Charles Mann, Art Monk, Riggo, Monte Coleman, the Hogs, heck even me? Why r we not out there with the team, raising the stakes by letting the current guys see the greats of the past right there?
LaVar also pleads for fans to hold Snyder accountable, concluding, "The ball is in your court FANS. It's in our court to start the process of change. This city and its fans can start up the road to earning and deserving championship caliber teams. One team in town has done it and look at how we are excited about them. This is not far fetched that us -- you the fan -- have that type of power, because you do...."

And then Tony Robbins came on stage and high-fived LaVar for awakening the giant within. Or something.

More amazing: the commenters, many of whom took issue with Arrington disrespecting Gibbs, mostly support him here. Winning fixes a lot of this, of course, but it's gong to take more than hanging nine on the Rams once a season.
