And so ends the fairy tale relationship that most of us thought would last forever. That's right, 15 months after getting hitched, 50-somethings Greg Norman and Chris Evert have separated. The announcement came Friday, days before Norman was to captain the International side in the President's Cup. I can't imagine it'll have any effect on the team event, and if anything, maybe it'll take some of the focus off Adam Scott, who hasn't played well in oh, I don't know, 15 months.
Good news, though: Norman and Evert part on good terms. Via the Associated Press:
In a statement, the couple said only, "We will remain friends and supportive of one another's family." The statement said they requested privacy for them and their families. In a shocking turn of events, the tabloids have commenced with the speculating.
Norman's spokesman, Bart Collins, said the two-time British Open champion would not comment beyond the statement. Norman's first press conference at the Presidents Cup is Tuesday morning at Harding Park.
According to the Daily Mirror, the couple split "because neither wanted to move out of their own home. ... A friend said: 'Chris hated the idea of living in the same place Greg shared with Laura, his wife of 25 years.'"
And the Daily Telegraph has this: "...Norman's former mother-in-law, Laura Andrassy Sr ... said the golfer's two adult children -- Morgan and Greg, to whom he was devoted -- did not get on with Evert, which contributed to the split."
Upside: this marriage won't cost Norman $100 million.

Irrespective of his family troubles, Greg is truly a great worldwide player and I for one wish him future success:)

I heard that Norman couldn't get it up anymore. His two kids are pure ass holes.
Chris is an Ambassador of tennis and Greg is a multifaceted businessman. It was gonna be hard for them.
But if his grown kids helped this split along, I say off with their heads, period... bring it on Osama Bin Laden!
Good that they don't have a kid together. I hate divorces with children, so tragic.
This whole thing really bothers me. Chris Evert is my favorite tennis player and Greg Norman is my favorite golfer. To see both of them get married I thought it was great. Although I did not approve of cheating and destroying two marriages. Why do cheaters really feel that they have a good foundation for marriage,,they CHEATED!! But once you have broken up two families and gotten married you have what you have. You have done it, make it work. But they couldn't decide what multi-million dollar mansion they wanted to live in??? Give me a break! Most of us normal non-celebrity couples would love to have such a dilema!! You have got to be kidding me. If they REALLY loved each other and wanted to make it work they could have. I don't think I am a fan of either of them now
