Frankly, I'm surprised we don't hear about this every weekend: some drunk, frustrated father humping a crappy 9-to-5 and living his life vicariously through his son, storms the field after the game to confront the officials and administer a much needed beatdown. That's how he rationalizes it, anyway. (I'd suggest watching the whole thing, but if you're only interested in the awkward confrontation, skip ahead to the 1:45 mark.)
Via the YouTube description: "Hackleburg High School Homecoming 2009 against Lynn. After the game a disgruntled (and intoxicated) Lynn fan attacked the referee with a stadium chair and chaos ensues."
And "chaos" obviously means "disgruntled (and intoxicated) Lynn fan gets his ass kicked."
Also worth noting:
1) Alper points out that the "team in white's offensive line needs to stop going to the Packers blocking camp."
2) And Snyder, professional blogger AND high school official, offers this: "My crew and I have dreamed about this scenario for years. Some cowardly fan wants to take on five guys? Bring it, [expletive deleted]."
(I can only assume Snyder made that remark while watching his Ed Hochuli pregame workout video.)

Your right, I am suprised this doesn't happen more often. Espically, with the number of drunk fans that go to these things.

Another reason that parents should be banned from attending "children's" sports. Funny how the PLAYERS never seem to have these problems (at least until they grow up and become "professional athletes", at which point every ounce of common sense drains from their heads)-- it's ALWAYS the PARENTS. I hope that this guy also got a nice little jail term for aggravated assault!

When I was refereeing, I kept a .25 Caliber automatic strapped inside my pants for as*holes
such as this. Thank goodness I never had to use it but I would have. mhs34

I have been a H.S. and college basketball official for over 35 years. And I do not believe for one second that you ever officiated H.S. sports. No real sports official would carry a gun while officiating.

Wow dreaming about someone coming on to the field and starting a fight? Great way to look forward to officiating a high school football game. If you want to dream about fighting people and getting hit from behind with a chair, go to the WWE and become an entertainer.

"His" crew have dreamed about this???! WTH? I bet he won't like it when a real man comes after "his" crew! Like he said...5 on 1....but he hasn't met the right ONE yet! Referees, Cops, Teachers, etc....ALL just trying to make up for being picked on when they were growing up! What a joke! You dreamed about it???? Really??! That IS SAD .

A few things, Bird:
1. I was joking around. If you want to call anyone who jumps someone from behind a "real man," though, I wouldn't expect you to understand much.
2. "Crew" is what we are. We have five guys who officiate together every Friday night. That's called an officiating crew.
3. I wasn't picked on as a kid. I played football in high school and I like officiating it now that I'm 31. Believe it or not, some people actually do things they enjoy doing. It's called having fun. I enjoy interacting with the players and coaches, in addition to the general atmosphere of high school football. I don't do it to punish anyone. Your generalizations are quite off-base.

Yea I have to say Bird you've got no clue what you are talking about. No real man attacks a sports official for doing their job. That just makes them a drunk moron. The fact that he ran up on him from behind makes him that much worse. Fot the rest of his life his kid has to deal with being the kid of the biggest idiot in town. The dad was wearing a jersey for goodness sakes. Also to your criticism of Snyder saying we dreamed of this.... if someone attacks me from behind like that you better believe I will get some enjoyment out of fixing his wagon.

WHAT A PR**K this man must be. He and his "no life" must be making his poor son's life a living HELL. I hope the drunk pissant got slapped with an assualt/battery and drunk in public charge... with a HEFTY fine added. My concern and sympathy goes out for the son, to have to deal with a first class F-TARD like this for a father.

This was a High School Football Game I wasn't aware of the fact that they sold beer or alcohol at these games and why the fact of race was brought into the comments is pure stupidity on ones part. it is a game and at the end of the day it is still a game, the dad was wrong for his actions and embarrasing his son but it doesnt matter his race or sport
