Not only is John Riggins a speaker of the truth, he's a storyteller using both words and images to convey his message. Take the YouTube below, for example. The piles of chopped wood? Yeah, that's a metaphor for the Dan Snyder Redskins. Riggo's first target: Vinny Cerrato. "Your head coach has basically been castrated by the guy you work for. ... Let's face it, your real, true passion is radio so I would say just go ahead and go radio full time. ... I mean, you're a great guy, Vin, but you're no GM."
(Not sure if it makes any difference but Cerrato's official title is Executive Vice President of Football Operations.)
Riggins then provides commentary on Jim Zorn's 21-game head coaching career ("crippling, mind-boggling losses"), before offering this frank assessment: "I don't even think you could be an offensive coordinator right now." He does qualify his remarks, though: "I do wish you luck ... but you are gone."
Maybe it's just me, but the constant "please follow me on Twitter!" reminders water down this otherwise powerful message.

yes! about time someone speaks the truth and pulls no punches! this! is why i love riggo man. im a skins fan for life and win or lose its always httr. but when we are messing up...i have no problem saying so & we are messing up!
ive been in skins' chat rooms where people are saying just the craziest most delusional things like we r going to the SB this year.
not happening...playoffs mayyybe...IF we can turn it around...and i mean fast!
i said from the very beginning that we needed to be getting offensive linemen and a veteran wideout to help moss & cooley.
our defense was #4 in the league last year....the last thing we needed was more d-fensive players...
anyway
thats my 2 cents...

I'd listen. I think JR knows a little bit about football. However, not being a "student" of the Washington Redskins' history....I wonder if he has some old baggage with these guys? Either way, he's got a point.
He has some past history; his radio show was canceled when Dan Snyder and the Redskins bought up a competing radio network.
However, that doesn't mean that everything he says now isn't the truth.
Fran Tarkenton - John Riggins ... cmon guys! Twitter?? Are you freakin serious? You're tarnishing the image of older football players who kept their traps shut! Just go away!
You cannot compare those two guys....Riggins is dead on with his speech. Where as Fran is just trying to get attention with his comments. In other words Fran is simply a crybaby and Riggins is a real football guy speaking the truth.
Its the NFL, there is no room to treat players like little kids, they need to be yelled at and told to get their heads out of their a**es!
as crazy as riggins is, he normally is right.
I LOVE WATCHING THE REDSKINS SELF DESTRUCT.IF YOU SKIN FANS WANT TO WATCH REAL NFC EAST TEAMS TUNE INTO THE GIANTS OR EAGLES.
Ahhhh!! finally someone who knows something about football! skin and cowgirl fans always cry when their team is sucking..dont blame it on the refs..blame it on your qb's and upper management or maybe poor drafting!! john riggins is keeping it real!!
How bout them Cowboys??????????????
until they get a qb the skins are going nowhere!
Tell it like it is 44!! This team plays with no heart or passion. Zorn has to go!
The problem lies in the organization as a whole, sure Dan Snyder has money, but he hasn't done anything beneficial for the 'Skins. We need a GM that really knows his stuff, and knows that the problem clearly was the offense not the defense. Why spend so much money signing Haynesworth and resigning Hall when our O-line has been shown to be unstable and very injury prone, not to talk about the WRs which are inconsistent, even Moss, the only constant in that offense is Chris Cooley, so unless we get people in the front office who address our needs before signing flashy players there is no way a coach can do his job, even though i think Zorn is not the answer
Put 44 in there as Head Coach. Bet some ass would fly then......
"(Not sure if it makes any difference but Cerrato's official title is Executive Vice President of Football Operations.)"
Hey, Wilson, how about doing a little resarch before taking moronic, uninformed, effeminate swipes at Riggins. Though that is Cerrato's official title, he is also the General Manager of the Redskins.
As for the state of the team, it has been in a downward spiral since little Danny Snyder and his shyster pals essentially stole the team from John Cooke, who should be the owner. Snyder would sell his own mother, were the price right, and his cost-is-the-bottom-line approach to handling the details of team operations, combined with the constantly and pathetically wrong advice of Cerrato--upon which gobs of ill-spent money have been heaped--and Snyder's control-freak mentality towards every aspect of the team, even though his football instincts are nil, and it is assured that the Redskins have no chance while these two twits are at the helm.
There was a glimmer of hope when Joe Gibbs took over, twice taking the Redskins to the playoffs, but his sound picks for replacing him, Gregg Williams and Al Saunders, were run out of town because they actually knew what they were doing and had strong personalities that challenged Cerrato's rightly fragile reins.
As for Campbell, his ability to read defenses, to react quickly and smartly, and to throw short and accurately are all suspect--to be cloyingly charitable. He will NEVER be a good starting quarterback. Rodney Harrison called it correctly a couple of weeks ago when he said that Campbell is only a backup quarterback. Todd Collins could do a much better job and should be behind center. At least, then, the offense would have a chance of putting together touchdown-scoring drives of longer than 20 yards.
We will never again see a team that can contend for the Super Bowl as long as little Danny Snyder uses our team to increase his fortune at the expense of the fans and the D.C. area. We who still attend should start ever game by chanting, "Sell the team; sell the team." Maybe then he will get the picture and do the public a service and go about increasing his fortune in a manner than doesn't ask us to pay the cost.
dan snyder, jerry jones and al davis all need to go away! they are the worst owners in the league, no coach worth a damn is ever going to coach for them
Oh my god!
John Riggins is John McCain!!
AS A LIFETIME CLEVELAND BROWNS FAN I MUST SAY WHEN IT COMES TO HEARTBREAK, SADNESS AND FRUSTRATION...NO BODY EVEN COMES CLOSE TO THIS ENIGMA OF AN ORGANIZATION! EVERY YEAR IS A RE-BUILDING ONE....LIKE AN ERECTOR SET ON STEROIDS ONLY WITHOUT ANY RESULTS! OWNERSHIP THAT LIKES TO EMPLOY OTHER TEAMS FAILURES AND PLAYBOOKS...SOMEDAY WHEN WE EMPLOY A REAL HEAD COACH AND STAFF WE MIGHT GET BACK ON TRACK TILL THEN...ITS LOSERVILLE CENTRAL!
Mr. John L. I'm a life long 49er fan and I feel your pain. Keep your chin up
Maybe Snyder could sell this team to hum hum hum, Hussein Obama, give him something else to transform.
