Being a politician is all about appearances. And for Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt, that means putting on a happy face to welcome back the man who ruined the only thing the area had going for it: the Packers.

That's why Schmitt, via the city's Web site, "... is asking for public input on the best way to respectfully 'welcome back' one of the City's most famous former residents: new Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre."

The responses are about what you'd expect. Via the Associated Press:
One suggestion calls for making the world's largest waffle in the shape of No. 4, Favre's jersey number with the Packers and the Vikings. It's a playful jab at Favre's indecisive approach to retirement.

One Packers site, www.cheeseheadtv.com, already has weighed in with a list of suggestions to mark the occasion. Among them: Creating a video montage of Favre's interceptions and showing it before the game.
And if you're not into spiffy shirts that commemorate "Brent's" awesomeness, you can always protest Favre's defection to the Vikings while also supporting cancer research. Seems like a win-win.
