Unless you're a close family member or an ardent SMU soccer supporter you've probably never heard of Ryan Rosenbaum. Until now, anyway. On Wednesday night against No. 16 Tulsa, the SMU freshman scored a goal ... from roughly 95 yards out. That's a nine and a five. Not exactly how Rosenbaum planned it -- it looks like he was just clearing the ball out of his half -- but thanks to windy, wet conditions, the ball skipped over the goalkeeper's head for a 3-1 Mustangs lead. (They held on to win 3-2.)
Video after the jump.
As Yahoo.com's Chris Chase points out, it wasn't just Rosenbaum's first collegiate goal, it was his first shot on goal.

Incredible feat. The goal keeper's incompetence attributed greatly though.

Our goalie in high school during a game cleared a ball from about that distance that came straight down into the goal mouth for a score. It was the longest and highest kick I think I had ever seen at the time. The defending goalie didn't have a prayer of reaching it. That was in Suffield Connecticut around 1967.
