The Chiefs lost Sunday -- for the sixth time in seven games -- and mercurial running back Larry Johnson took to Twitter to vent his frustrations. His agent later claimed that Johnson was just trying to honor his father 140 characters at a time, but it was also clear that L.J. used it as an opportunity to take shots at first-year head coach Todd Haley.
Fantasy Football Spin: Time to Give Up on L.J., Other Rushers?

Johnson was just getting started, apparently. He continued tweeting through the night, and on Monday, the Kansas City Star's Kent Babb writes that L.J. spent much of his evening responding to followers, many of whom are Chiefs fans.
Johnson continued the rant, and, in later responses directed toward Johnson's Twitter followers, contained inflammatory remarks about gays. In a reference to someone's profile picture, Johnson called it a "f** pic" and called the person a "Christopher street boy," a reference to a predominantly gay section in New York's Greenwich Village. Johnson's Twitter profile was taken private and some posts were deleted. It gets worse. When reporters approached Johnson Monday in the locker room he told them, "I'm not talking till Thursday," his usual day to speak to the media. According to Babb he then whispered, "Get your f****t ass out of here." Classy.
For the second time in as many days, LJ's agent, Peter Schaffer, commenced with the damage control:
"I think it was a combination of being embarrassed or frustrated that what he said was taken out of context. We're going to be putting out an apology for it. Not necessarily what he said but his choice of words."Upside: Chiefs have a bye this weekend so there is virtually no chance they'll lose. Downside: Schaffer might want to print out extra copies of that apology he's working up because at this rate he'll be sending them out for a while.

Personally, I am SICK of people having to apologize for using their words. Yes, he was inappropriate. But what happened to free speech? How are we really supposed to live our lives when we have to watch EVERYTHING we say?? Yet rappers can use the N word and call women bytches and sluts and Hoes and that's okay????
Get over it already. People say f**got all the time. I'm not saying it's right or anything, but seriously. GET OVER IT. I know gay men and women who use these words. Ridiculous.
SO THEN THE NFL , AL SHARPTON , JESSE JACKSON AND ALL OTHER HATERS SHOULD " GET OVER IT " AND APOLOGIZE TO RUSH LIMBAUGH , NOW !!! AND ALLOW HIM TO PROCEED WITH PART OWNERSHIP OF THE NFL TEAM OF HIS CHOICE . HE HAS A RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH AS MUCH AS ANYONE ELSE , PERIOD !!!!!!!
They should trade him to San Fran for some sensitivity training.
yes it is true that rappers and everyone else says the same or worse BUT not to a reporter using LIVE feed!!!!!
RUPTURE; Here is some more free speech. Go lick horse manure.
Exactly right. We are free to use any words we want. But like anything else in life, there is a cost. I could choose to use slang or street vernacular and "keep it real." The cost? I'm only going to get hired and advance to a certain level in life. So if you feel using the f word or n word is your sacred right, I say have at it. Just know there is price to paid for the words we choose. All of us.
i'm with you. so called TOLERANT libs are practicing what the Medieval Catholic Church did - excommunication. if you don't TOE THE LINE, we will make you grovel and crawl and beg for forgiveness
So madrach, what you are telling me is that because black people don't use the word N999er as a racist term, it's okay? Well, what if someone uses the word fsrgot as just a word, not referring to his sexual orientation at ALL? Or what if a gay person uses it? All of the sudden it's acceptable?
DOUBLE STANDARD.
It's either wrong, or it's not, regardless of who uses it.
Im not saying he should use the word, but it's his right to do so. He didn't hurt anyone, he didn't scream fire in a crowded building, and his words didn't stir violence. Therefore, he has nothing to be sorry for. If you don't like what he said, don't watch him. End of story.
This free speech argument is about what I'd expect out of a 3rd grader.
Go to work tomorrow and use the same terms that LJ did and see what happens.
Free speech doesn't mean that you say whatever you want without consequences.
So with all the black people who use the n word, its okay for me to use it? That's bs
The you won't take offense when I call you an ignorant bigoted ho; and I don't apologize. It's a joy to see all the trailer trash Klan Kids here quoting Darwin as it suits them today, knowing full well they'll deny evolution tomorrow. Grow up or learn the hard way that words have price tags.
Then don't use Twitter! We all must be responsible for our actions
Agree totally.
If an "alleged" racist comment was enough to get Limbaugh tossed from ownership consideration, Johnson should be out of the League. Neither is coprrect, but you can't have double standards.
We have double standards all the time. Liberals are seldom held accountable for anything they do.
Racism is one thing, having names for people that engage in sexually devious acts like homosexuality and bestiality is another. Disliking someone because they were born with a different shade of skin is racism. This is not.
Rush is dishonest but how the hell did this conversation end up on that idiot. It is about Larry Johnson. But by your thesis If they allow Johnson a player say things then Rush should be able to own a team. Well what if Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton wanted to own a team what would be our reason for not allowing them. Rush is a drug addicted idiot that would not be a good fit for the NFL even in StL
tr00fdetect0r3 That's true for both Liberals & conservatives
mobyk......there's a big diffence between being a player and being an owner. Limbaugh is a known bigot. The NFL is 2/3 afro-amerian. That's why no one wants him as an owner of a NFL football team.
Larry Johnson should be able to twitter the F-Bomb on the internet...there are no laws or rules against it. No one has to read Johnson's remarks, they do that by choice, but Limbaugh's prejudice against blacks was his ticket out of the NFL thank God.
Johnson is an idiot. What do gay people have to do with the fact that his team stinks? Nothing. It's stupid and ugly to throw his homophobia into his response to the press and on Twitter. He's a no-class bigot.
