A football player who became momentarily confused on a punt return tackled his own teammate during a semi-pro game last week.
Mauriece McIver was playing on the punt return team for the Las Vegas Cobras when, for reasons he himself probably can't understand, he decided to tackle his own teammate, who was breaking into the clear for a long return. This wasn't a player accidentally bumping into his teammate, this was a player perfectly wrapping up his teammate for a textbook form tackle
When you first hear that McIver tackled his own teammate you might think he had a grudge against him or something, but no: You can tell from his reaction that McIver was upset with himself when he realized what he had done. McIver buried his head in his hands afterward, but the damage was done. I wonder what the post-game conversation was like.
I see some one has never played football I have and never paid to play,we had a blast playing then it was about the sport today its all about the money
Like the guy who recovered a fumble and ran for a touchdown the wrong way. He later said he suspected something was wrong when he noticed the opposite team was blocking like hell for him. LOL
I'm not saying this wasn't a boneheaded play, but did anyone else notice that the opposing teams jerseys (not the numbers) are the same color? And if you look carefully, there are 3 different colors of pants on the field. What's up with that?
Don - One team's colors are maroon and white, the other's are blue and gold. NOT the same colors, but understandable mistake due to the poor quality video. Watch the slow motion replay, it's easier to see.
Hmmm... You are on a PUNT RETURN. Your objective is to BLOCK for the receiver. You TACKLE someone. Oh, damn! It's the RECEIVER! You tackled someone. On a punt return... WTF?????????
I know how it is , in High School I intercepted a pass on the 5 yard line and downed it thinking I was in the end zone... It was brought up to me @ my 30 yr reunion by my coach . It took 30 yrs for my coach to see the humor :)
Cmon...all you people blastin this kid. I am sorry..you guys are all right..NONE of you has ever made a boneheaded move...I forgot..your AAAALLLL perfect. Please, the kid probably feels like a peice of crap for it.
Your a D**B A*S. A concussion? Really? Are your father and grandfather the same person? Can somebody say mental retardation? But don't worry Jay. Nothing a few generations of going outside your immediate family to procreate can't fix.
WHAT IS BACK PORCH? The easy answer: Back Porch exists because FanHouse doesn't have a basement for its bloggers. The bigger picture? BP covers sports news that's funny, off-beat and controversial. In short, it's the other side of sports, covered with an edge. Enjoy.
