Tiger Woods won the Australian Masters Sunday, and for his troubles he got a see-through globe and a mustard yellow jacket. And unlike John Daly's appearance at the Australian Open last December, Woods made it through four rounds without having to smash anybody's camera. Instead, he chucked his driver into the gallery after a poor tee shot during Saturday's round. Video indictment of his blatant disregard for human life after the jump.
This is sure to incite the "Tiger doesn't respect the game AND he clearly hates Australia" faction. As long as nobody gets hurt, Woods can wear jorts and a wife beater, curse after every shot and have Stevie pour him beers out of the kegerator built into his bag and I'd have no problem with it. I mean, Daly's made a decent living with that approach.
Treating the spectacle with the seriousness it deserves, Sports by Brooks draws a parallel between Tiger's actions and that of Judge Smails.
Golf.com's Mike Walker wonders why more hasn't been made of Tiger's club toss and he suggests that Woods' people might have intervened. Perhaps. Or maybe people don't think it's a huge deal.

I like and respect Tiger and there are other guys out there that get mad and slam clubs that we don't see because most guys are on TV like Tiger is maybe once or twice a season. However, he has to stop doing that. This was one time where he is lucky and everyone is lucky that no one got hurt.
Tiger should be suspended..plain and simple..imagine if Manny Ramirez chucked a bat into the crowd..it is dangerous and should not be tolerated..susprnd and fine his a s s and he will never do it again..and for all of you people screaming racist..I would suspend ANY golfer who would do that...

Throwing it on the ground is one thing... throwing it in the crowd (with children in the way of danger) the way he did is ABSOLUTELY unforgiven. He should be fined about $15M... that should stop all of that. Think about $500k for every swear word should stop all of that as well.
I don't condone it but it's not that big of a deal unless someone is hurt and a driver isn't anywhere as near as dangerous as a bat. It seldom happens so no harm done and I'm sure Tiger is relieved that nobody was hurt. Certainly it doesn't rank with Serena Williams tirade.
