Good news, Trent Edwards: Jim Kelly, former Bills great and Hall of Famer, likes you as a person. Bad news: he's not so fond of your quarterbackin' skills.

In a story that ran on Thanksgiving, no less, Kelly told USA Today that the Bills have given Edwards, a former third-round pick, three years to prove himself, he has yet to do so, and the team should cut their losses and continue their search for the next franchise quarterback. With a few caveats.
"If I'm the owner, that's what I'm thinking. Whether it's Tim Tebow, whether they'll have a shot at him when draft time comes ... you have to look at the top three quarterbacks in the draft, really study them. And you look for a guy with good character, good leadership ability and good arm strength - and a guy who doesn't come from California.
Wait, what? No California guys?

Apparently, the pain inflicted by the short, inept Rob Johnson and J.P. Losman eras left lasting scars. But never let it be said that Kelly won't be swayed by small sample size bias. Here's a list of quarterbacks who grew up in the Golden State and, save a handful of names, all had careers slightly more successful than Johnson or Losman.

More good news: Tim Tebow was born in the Philippines. More bad news: he's destined for a career as an NFL fullback, not a team-history-altering quarterback.
