Martellus Bennett's nude photos surfaced online, which prompted an apologyMartellus Bennett apologized for nude photos of him appearing online Monday. The Dallas Cowboys tight end said the photos were taken four years ago and placed on the internet without his knowledge or consent. "I understand that they are totally inappropriate. And for that I am sorry," said Bennett in a statement released through the team. "I regret the embarrassment that it has caused the organization."

Bennett, who has caused a stir in the past with his comedic acts on YouTube, declined to do any interviews after practice Monday. The Cowboys already had their hands full with questions about the hazing incident involving Dez Bryant, in which the rookie wideout refused to carry teammate Roy Williams' shoulder pads to the locker room.

Cowboys vice president of communications Rich Dalrymple told ESPNDallas.com that the photo flap was discussed with Bennett. "We discussed this matter [Monday] with Martellus and will address it further on an internal basis," Dalrymple said.

MediaTakeout.com had reported Monday that Bennett's old girlfriend was allegedly the one who posted the nude photos online.

Interestingly enough, Bennett is now the third high-profile athlete this year to issue an apology for nude photos appearing on the net. In January, it was Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden, followed shortly by San Antonio Spurs guard George Hill in February. And of course the ladies couldn't forget Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore's picture leak in late 2009.

Bennett had just recently announced that he's ending his MartyBTV channel on YouTube. "I will no longer be doing MartyBTV ever," Bennett wrote on his Twitter account. "No, the Cowboys didn't tell me to stop, [it's] just something I've decided to do."

Entering his third season, Bennett looks ready to put his entire focus on football with the Cowboys aiming for a Super Bowl title. He drew raves from coach Wade Phillips last week for being one of the team's hardest-working players in camp so far.
